Food: Where does it come from ?
Food— Food is source of nutrition that living organisms eat, drink or absorb to maintain life and growth.

Plant parts as food—Plants are one source of our food.
We eat different parts of plant as vegetables fruits.
Ex. Flower, Fruit, Stem, Leaf, Root.
Roots as food- Carrot, Beetroot,
Radish, Turnip etc
Stem as food- Potato, Ginger,
Sugarcane etc.
Leaves as food- Spinach, Coriander,
Cabbage, Onion etc.
Flowers as food- Rose, Cauliflower, etc.
Fruits as food- Apple, Banana, Tomato, Grapes
etc.
Seed
as food- Corn, Wheat, Maize, Pulses etc.
*- Some plants have two or more edible parts.
Ex. Seeds of mustard plants give us oil and leaves are used as vegetable.

Sprout—A
small white structure may have grown out of the seed is known as sprout.
Ex. Sprout of moong and chana.
*After washing sprout seeds we can eat it.
Nector—The
sweet liquid that bees collect from flowers to make honey. It is sugar rich
liquid provided by plants.
*Flowers and their nector may be available only for a part of the year.
Beehive—The structure
or home in which honeybees live and reproduce is called beehive.
# Beehive can be both man made and natural
# Another name of these shelter is honeycomb.
# We collect the food, stored by the bees as honey.
Classification of animal based on food they eat.
Animal may divide in 3
groups on the basis of their food.
*1- Herbivorous
*2- Carnivorous
*3- Omnivorous
(1)-
Herbivorous—Animals which
eat only plants or plant product are called herbivorous.
Ex. Cow, Buffalo, Goat, Sheep etc.
(2)- Carnivorous—Animals which eat other animals are
called carnivorous.
Ex.
Tiger, Lion etc.
(3)- Omnivorous—Animals which eat both plants and
animals are called omnivorous.
Ex.
Bear, Fox, Dog, Human etc.
